Christos Stefas
Partner
Christos’ work primarily focuses on maritime litigation, arbitration and complex commercial disputes in the shipping, corporate and marine insurance sectors. He has extensive experience handling high-value, technically complex disputes with an international dimension, advising clients on strategic, procedural and substantive aspects of contentious matters.
Christos regularly represents shipowners, operators, ship managers, financial institutions, brokers and other stakeholders before the Greek courts, including the Admiralty Court, as well as in arbitration proceedings under the rules of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping and the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA). He has acted in a wide range of disputes arising from maritime casualties, contractual relationships and commercial transactions, combining detailed legal analysis with a strong understanding of the operational realities of the shipping industry.
His practice covers all aspects of wet shipping, with particular expertise in casualty-related matters, including collisions, salvage, fire incidents, wreck removal, pollution claims, bunker disputes and general average. He also advises on a broad range of dry shipping matters, including charterparty and bill of lading disputes, ship management arrangements and financing matters.
Alongside his contentious practice, Christos advises clients on non-contentious shipping and corporate matters, including the establishment and restructuring of shipping companies, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, shipbuilding contracts, ship sale and purchase agreements and loan documentation.
Christos is also actively involved in maritime arbitration and is a Supporting Member of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping Arbitration Association, as well as an Arbitrator.
